في كل مكان في اليابان تتردد أصداء عبارة “سومي ماسين” والتي تترجم “معذرةً!”، والتي تسمعها في الطرقات، وقرب الأبواب، وعند الولوج والخروج من سيارات الأجرة، والمحال، والمطاعم، متفوقة على عبارة “أريغاتو!” أو “شكرا!”كانت الساعة الواحدة صباحا في طوكيو وكنا نحاول دخول إحدى الشقق بمفتاح إضافي بعد أن جهدنا في الوصول إلى المكان المستأجر حتى بلغنا أخيرا ما اعتقدنا لا محالة أنه شقتنا، أو هكذا بدا الأمر بعد منتصف الليل.وجدنا مفتاحا بصندوق البريد كما قالت لنا مضيفتنا. في البداية لم يتطابق الصندوق والرقم السري فما كان عليّ إلا تمرير أصابعي بمرونة عبر الفتحة والتقاط المفتاح!

لم نتوقف لمراجعة أنفسنا بل هممنا بالدخول بعد رحلة طيران استمرت 12 ساعة تلتها رحلة أخرى طويلة عبر المواصلات العامة من ناريتا إلى شينجوكو. انفتح الباب بعد محاولة أو اثنتين لنجد أمامنا سيدة ترتدي ملابس النوم وابنتها تشخصان إلينا بذهول. عندها أدركنا أننا في المكان الخطأ!ولكن بدلا من أن تصيح فينا مهددة بإبلاغ الشرطة، ما كان من المرأة وابنتها إلا أن أمضيتا عشرين دقيقة تحاولان مساعدتنا في العثور على المكان الصحيح، كل هذا ونحن لا نفقه كلمة باليابانية ولا هم بالإنجليزية. وبعد أن باءت كافة المحاولات بالفشل تقدمتا لنا باعتذار رسمي، ونحن الأغراب الذين اقتحموا بيتهم دون سابق إنذار!
